The majority of times, our use of cotton balls is limited to the bathroom. We use them to remove nail polish, clean our face and sometimes clean our ears too. But in this article, we are going to discover 10 other original ways you could use cotton balls.
And it’s fun too!
Scent a Room
Spray cotton balls with your favorite natural fragrance or essential oils, put them in a vacuum bag and let them sit somewhere open in your room!
Prevent Foot Blistering
If you are used to wear high heels or tight closed shoes, you probably know how painful it can be when your feet get stuck up and blisters start to form. To cushion your foot skin and prevent further blistering while wearing your new pair of heels, take a cotton ball, attach it to the affected toe and make it stick with a band aid.
Deodorize Your Refrigerator
The same way you would spray cotton balls with your favorite fragrance, spray them once again and place them on the door side of your fridge. The aroma will entirely diffuse through a fridge, and it will smell squeaky clean!
Fight Mildew
Mildew, a type of mold, usually grows on household surfaces or items with poor moisture control such as ceilings, walls or floors, and even clothing or leather items (sandals, bags, etc.) Luckily you can fight mildew by using cotton balls: Soak a few cotton balls in bleach and place them in areas where mildew is found. You can also rub them on your leather items, and let it sit for a few hours, the time to work their magic!
Glove Protectors
You may be wondering, how? Here is the simple trick. This will help you to prevent your fingernails from perforating your rubber gloves. This trick is particularly important if you have long nails! Before wearing your gloves, simply put one cotton ball per finger glove, in such a way that the cotton balls are in direct contact with the tip of each finger glove, and with your fingers as well.
Lighting Fires, Oil Lamps and Candles
Having trouble starting your barbecue grill? Take some cotton balls, roll them into long pieces (two cotton balls per piece, for example) and twist them until they form a stick.
Clean and Store Your Jewelry
Are you afraid that those delicate earrings might catch some dust and become rusty? Don’t worry; here is a tip with your cotton balls. Dampen a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and clean your jewelry items after use.
Relieve a Toothache
Soak a cotton ball in whiskey, clove and some vanilla essence (just for the fragrance, since it’s going up in your mouth); and insert the soaked cotton ball in the affected tooth. The whiskey and clove will neutralize the pain.
Protect your Garden
A lot of farmers and gardeners tend to use this trick. If you can’t deal with those annoying rabbits that can’t help but eat your plants, here is what we suggest: pour some white distilled vinegar in a film container. Soak the cotton balls in it, and close. Poke a hole on top of the container, and finally place it in your garden.
Grow Beans
Impressive, right? All you need is a glass jar, few cotton balls and some beans! Fill your jar with the cotton balls. Next, place a bean seed on each side of the jar. Add water to the jar, just enough to dampen the cotton balls (but not drawn them in water!) Over the next few days, you’ll be able to observe how wonderfully your beans are growing! After about five days, the plant will be ready to be transferred in the soil.
