For making the calendula oil the calendula flower needs to be kept in wide mouth jar covered in any sort of light oil, then placed in any sunny window for a few weeks and shake twice daily for the best results. Then strain the flowers and like that the calendula oil is prepared. Upcoming the calendula poultice, this is prepared by crushing the flowers in a bowl, adding a bit of water then adding some thickening agent like flour to make a poultice. The poultice can be applied to skin or affected area for results. The calendula salve is another use of the herb. The calendula salve has a bit trickier preparation than the rest. To make the salve the calendula flowers to be placed into a slow cooker with oil on top and needs to be left to slow cook for 4 hours undisturbed. Next, strain out the flowers, rinse out the slow cooker insert, let it dry, and then put the calendula oil back in the slow cooker on low. Weigh out about 1 ounce of beeswax, and grate it into the slow cooker, stirring the mixture once all of the beeswax has been granted. After the beeswax has completely melted, turn off the slow cooker and store in jars with tops uncovered for the salve to cool.
