Epsom salts are a miracle substance. They can be used in a variety of ways, from cleaning to soothing sore muscles. It can also leave your skin exfoliated and moisturized. If you’re like to try an Epsom salt facial scrub but don’t want to pay for them, you can learn how to make your own. Here’s how:
1 – In a medium sized bowl, pour two cups of Epsom salt.
2 – To the salt, add one cup of carrier oil. Carrier oils, generally vegetable based, are used to dilute essential oils and other ingredients before they are used for aromatherapy, massage, or in beauty treatments. These would include grape seed, olive, sunflower, almond, and rapeseed oil. You may also use mineral oil.
3 – Pour in one to two drops of essential oil if you’d like. This step is optional, however.
4 – Thoroughly mix the salt and oil(s).
5 – Pour the mixture into a plastic jar with lid you can tightly close. The salt scrub should last about 3-4 months as long as it is tightly closed after each use.
To use the Epsom salt facial scrub, wet your face with warm water and scoop out a tablespoon of the scrub. Massage the scrub into your face in circular motions. Rinse with cool water and then pat your face dry.
You can also add half-teaspoon of Epsom salt to store-bought facial cleanser. Massage it into the skin and rinse with cool water. Pat the skin dry.
Finally, instead of concentrating solely on the face, why not use Epsom salt to exfoliate your whole body? Simply take a handful of Epsom salt and massage it into your wet skin. You can get the same type of spa treatment you’d pay good money for without having to spend money at all.
