Most if not all of us are used in using harsh chemical in cleaning every corners of our house. We also use these products when cleaning appliances such as an oven. The problem with these cleaning products is that it leaves residue that are harmful to the body. No matter how you remove the product you can never be sure if all the chemicals are removed.
Since people are becoming conscious about the environment, natural cleaning products are commonly used to replace harsh ones. Natural products don’t leave any deposits that could come in contact with your food.
There are several items you can find at home that can be used to clean your oven. Some of these stuffs include ammonia, baking soda, vinegar, lemon juice.
Ammonia
Ammonia is a common component in glass cleaners as it helps loosen grime and dirt making it easy to remove. This can also be used in cleaning your oven. Just place 2 cups of ammonia in a bowl. Put the bowl inside the oven, on the rack then close the door. Leave it overnight. The vapours naturally produced by the ammonia will loosen the dirt so you can just wipe it with damp cloth and the dirt will just come off.
Baking Soda
Baking soda is a natural deodorizer and at the same time a cleaning agent that works in various surfaces. Mix equal amounts of baking soda and water in a container. Scrub the walls starting from the upper portions going down using a soft sponge dipped in the baking soda solution. Rinse the residue off the oven with the use of a damp cloth.
Vinegar
Like baking soda, vinegar is a natural cleaner that helps remove grime while deodorizing. To use this in cleaning your oven, pour concentrated distilled white vinegar in a spray bottle and spray inside the oven. Dampen a clean sponge and place it inside the oven then heat for about 20-30 seconds. With the use of the warm sponge, wipe off the vinegar from the walls of the oven. Repeat the steps until you have completely removed all the dirt. If the cloth becomes soiled, rinse it before repeating the process.
Lemon Juice
The acidity in the lemon is a very effective cleaning agent and this is why most cleaning products have lemons in it. Lemon will dissolve dirt and residue in your oven while leaving it fresh smelling. Fill a spray bottle with equal amounts of lemon juice and water or you can use pure lemon juice for tougher stains. After spraying on the oven walls leave it for 10 minutes before wiping with a damp cloth.
