Why Use Natural Cleaning Items?
There are people who still don’t realize the importance of using natural cleaners so they opt for those which they can easily buy in stores. Little do they know that these store bought products contain chemicals that could accumulate and later on harm the environment.
I bet that if you read the contents of many cleaners you can find in the store, you won’t recognize most if not all of the substances. Even if the product says mild, you can never be sure. Whereas if you make your own cleaning solution for your hardwood floor you know what is in it.
The very basic things you can use as a hardwood cleaner are water and vinegar. White vinegar, apple cider vinegar or distilled vinegar can be can be used as floor cleaners. To make a cleaning solution, mix 1 cup of vinegar with 1 gallon of water in a bucket. Use a mop but make sure that you wring it before mopping the floor. It is not advisable to use a wet mop, just a damp one. The vinegar will remove any stains or slight odors on the floor.
Mix equal parts of vegetable oil and distilled vinegar for a shinier floor. Place the solution in a spray bottle and spray it on the floor. Wipe using a clean soft cloth. Use a different cloth to thoroughly remove any particles and to bring out the shine on the floor.
Daily cleaning of your floor is necessary. Sweeping the floor every day can remove tiny particles to prevent it from accumulating. Place a rug on the doors to remove particles from your shoes or slippers before you enter your home. Also, ensure that you clean spills immediately so it won’t penetrate into the wood. This could be harder to remove.
To get rid of stains, use a clean cloth with 3% hydrogen peroxide. Remove the excess hydrogen peroxide. Place the cloth on the stain and cover with a plastic. Place a heavy object like a book to press the cloth firmly on the stain. Check after 3 hours. If there is still a stain, keep repeating the process.
