Eat more fiber
Fiber adds bulk to the food you eat and so it gives you the feeling of being full. Body takes longer time to process and move the fiber and so one doesn’t feel hungry for a long time after having a fibrous diet. It’s always good to start your day with a breakfast having high-fiber cereal like oat bran or wheat bran. Whole grain, nuts, fruits, vegetables; beans are the best source of fiber. Having whole grain breads or buns along with one to two serving of some fruit during the breakfast will make you feel fuller and keep hunger at bay.
Drink lot of water
Being thirsty confuses us with being hungry and we end up eating something, this happens because the body increases the hunger pangs on getting dehydrated. Dehydration also slows down metabolism so it’s important to ensure that your body is well hydrated all the time. Drink at least 7-8 glasses of water every day for boosting metabolism and removing the toxins. Water is a natural appetite suppressant, having a glass of water before meal will suppress hunger and you will end up eating less.
Add more protein to your diet
When your diet is inadequate in proteins, the desire for eating food increases. Ideally a daily diet should constitute of at least 30% protein. Protein can be added to any of your meal but it is more beneficial to add it to your breakfast so that your appetite remains in control the rest of the day. Lean protein like soyabean, fish, poultry, eggs, lean meat gives a feeling of fullness and helps in controlling appetite. Feeling of fullness after protein intake is much more than any other nutrients including fiber.
Drinking Soups before main course
Soups are so-called high volume foods as they are high in vegetables and water; they fill your stomach by adding bulk to your meal. It’s observed that when people eat food that is high in volume and low in density (calories), they eat less during the day or at meal time. A bowl of soup before starting your main course can suppress your appetite naturally and also keep you hydrated. Meals can be replaced with soup by adding starch to it in form of noodles or rice and protein in form of beans, meat or chicken. If you wish to cut down weight avoid creamy, high-fat soups and go for broth based soup.
