Ingredients that you’ll need:
1 cup borax
1 cup washing soda
1/2 cup citric acid
1/2 cup kosher salt
Spray bottle with water & essential oils if desired
Small molds. I used a miniature brownie mold, an ice tray will also work well.
Borax-aside from the wonder of cleaning, deodorizing, and disinfecting…it also is non-toxic and safe for the environment. It softens the water so your detergent can work more efficiently.
Washing Soda-is a stain remover and is effective in dissolving grease. Since it is a close cousin to the famous baking soda, this is an amazing addition to frugal living.
Citric Acid-is imperative to eliminate the cloudy film that sometimes comes with homemade cleaning products. If your water is extraordinarily hard, add a little more citric acid, play around with the recipe until you get the right ration! (You can also use unsweetened kool-aid lemonaid. This will add a nice lemony scent but can possibly stain your dishwasher.)
Sea Salt-some recipes call for kosher salt, as it adds a great scrubbing action to your dish washer soap. I opted to use regular sea salt because I didn’t want it to be too abrasive. The salt I used works great for me!
White Vinegar -Adding a little white distilled vinegar will add to the water softening as well as eliminating spots. Just add it to the “Jet Dry” compartment of your dishwasher.
